Sequoia Union High School District

About Us

A tall evergreen tree stands in the foreground, partially obscuring a light-colored tower with arched windows in the background.

For more than 130 years, Sequoia Union High School District has prepared students to succeed in a world of constant change. As the local economy evolved from lumber and manufacturing to a global center of innovation and technology, our schools have continually adapted to meet the needs of students and the communities we serve, and in turn, our students have helped build the foundation of what has become a thriving local economy. Today, SUHSD continues this tradition by equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to thrive in college, careers, and life. Our graduates are prepared not only to succeed in a dynamic workforce, but also to shape the future of the region they call home.

Our graduates pursue countless paths, each one contributing to the strength and vitality of our communities. Some attend top universities in California and across the country. Others become the first in their family to graduate from high school or earn a college degree, fulfilling dreams that have been passed down through generations.

They become educators, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, first responders, service members, artists, and innovators. They open businesses, care for children and families, support those in need, and serve their communities in countless ways. Others enter the skills trades, building homes and workplaces, maintaining critical infrastructure, and helping create a more sustainable future.

Whatever path they choose, SUHSD graduates leave our schools prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world around them. We are proud of every student and every journey.

We back that promise with action. Our schools offer more than 120 honors and advanced courses, including AP, IB, Advanced Standing, and Dual Credit options, alongside robust Career Technical Education pathways and specialized programs.

Although our course offerings are rigorous, academics are only part of what makes SUHSD special. Our schools are places where students find friends and make connections with supportive adult mentors, discover their passions, and build relationships that last a lifetime. Student well-being, belonging, and connection are not afterthoughts, they are central goals, woven into everything we do.

SUHSD serves a community of students from many different cultural and economic backgrounds, and we are stronger for it. We are proud to open doors for every student who walks through our gates, and proud of the generations of graduates who have gone on to shape this region and the world beyond it.

Behind the Scenes

Within and beyond the classroom, Sequoia Union High School District is filled with dedicated employees who bring a wide range of talents that help students learn and grow. Whether it's ensuring that classrooms are clean, teachers get paid, or students have healthy food to eat for lunch, our staff work tirelessly behind the scenes doing work that is often invisible to many. Many of our employees are graduates of our schools, or have children who attend. They feel a strong sense of connection to the district, and relationships among colleagues run deep.

We hope these day-in-the-life-of-SUHSD give you just a small glimpse of the special group of people who serve our students.
