The CATASTROPHIC LEAVE BANK began in the fall of 1993. It is a unique opportunity to contribute to your and your colleagues’ security and peace of mind.

By contributing to the bank, you will be eligible to request additional fully paid sick leave whenever you encounter a major illness or accident, even though you have exhausted your sick leave but cannot return to work. You also make it possible for other employees, without a reserve of sick leave, to have added peace of mind.

Important points for contributing to the CATASTROPHIC LEAVE BANK are the following:

1.   Contribution limit per person:                                             1 day

2.   Minimum requirement for the bank to take effect:              50 days contributed by staff

According to our collective bargaining agreements, all certificated and classified staff who have not already contributed to the district’s CATASTROPHIC LEAVE BANK are again eligible to make a contribution.  If you have already contributed to the bank, you do not need to contribute at this time.

Unit members who have used days of catastrophic leave must contribute one day before October 1 of the subsequent school year to regain eligibility for catastrophic leave.

Fill out this form to sign-up. If you have any questions, please contact Toni Di Cicco at tdicicco@seq.org in the Human Resources Department. Please complete and return the Catastrophic Leave Bank form by October 1. Please note: only if the bank falls below the minimum 75-day requirement would staff be required to contribute again.
