It keeps valuable material such as aluminum and paper out of landfills, so this material can be reused in other forms and not wasted. 2. It prevents hazardous materials and chemicals such as lead and mercury from ending up in landfills, which can contaminate soil and leak into our drinking water. J. Sequoia will have a program in place next year called "The Ophelia Project". The focus will be on training leadership students and teachers to work with our 6th grade feeder classes on issues around bullying and acceptance. If you are interested in facilitating one or more of these outreach meetings at several of our feeder schools, you will need to attend training on: Friday August 15 Saturday August 16 from 8-3pm. You will also need to have some 4th periods free (approximately one every 3 weeks from 10 -12 noon) to attend the middle school classes and facilitate the workshops. Let me know if you are interested. It is a great project and a great way to reach out to the community. Thank you for your consideration.
