WANTED OLD COMPUTERS
Working or not, for the M-A computer donation program. We securely erase all information from the computer, refurbish it, and will send it home with a hard-working, deserving student. If you have one (or a truckload!) please contact Sue Kayton, kayton at alum.mit.edu, 650-853-1711. Our goal is for every student at M-A to have access to a working computer to assist them with their schoolwork.

FINAL PARENT EDUCATION SERIES EVENT! HOW STRESS AFFECTS TEENS
Wednesday, May 14 at 7:00PM, M-A Library. Adolescents Responding to Stress: Street Drugs and Other Brain Abuses vs. Mindfulness Centered Healing. The final speaker in our PTA Parent Education Series is Peter E. Newsom, M.D., a neuropsychiatrist who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry. As an M-A parent himself, Dr. Newsom is well aware of how stress affects teens. He will expand our understanding of the effects of stress on adolescents and introduce evidence that mindfulness-centered approaches can reduce stress in teens, parents and the family. Dr. Newsom will discuss how lowering teen stress helps prevent some of the more severe disorders seen in clinical psychiatry.

Using slides from NIDA (National Institute of Drug Abuse), Dr. Newsom will show what happens to the brain when teens self-medicate with street drugs or prescription medications. He will also demonstrate how meditation and mindfulness practices can have a positive and lasting effect on the brain. Slides and presentation to be followed by Q & A. To RSVP for this FREE event, please contact Charlene Margot, Chair of the PTA Parent Education Series, cmargot at csmconsulting.net.

GOLF
Congratulations to our M-A Boys CCS Golf Team!! On Tuesday, May 6, the team placed FIRST at Rancho Canada in the Regional 1 CCS Golf Tournament, with a team score of 385, edging out Mountain View, St. Francis, Serra, Carlmont, and 6 other teams! Our team will compete next at the CCS Sectional tournament next week, on Tuesday, May 13 at Rancho Canada. Our boys played smart, and knew how to adjust to the colder, damper weather, slight wind, and temperamental greens. Contributing to the team score was Senior Nick Chladek firing a 72 and tying for 4th in the field of 66, Junior Nick Sako carding a 74 and tying for 6th place, followed by Junior Ben Jackson with 78, Senior Jake Hall Toy with 79, and Junior Brian Jordan with 82. This is the best CCS first round in recent history for the Bears!

BASEBALL
The varsity baseball team celebrated their Senior Day in style, defeating Aragon Wednesday 12-3. Michael Stosz had another strong pitching day and M-A collected 17 hits throughout the lineup. Abi Arias led the way, going 3 for 3 while Jeff Keller, Kevin Viegas, Michael Masket, Ross Sylvester, Michael Stosz and Matt Hornberger all had two hits. Congratulations to our seniors Lee Bader, Andrew Klein, Michael Masket, Matt Mosher, Michael Stosz, Ross Sylvester and Pieter Verhaar. We will miss you!
