HELP OUT A NEW M-A TEACHER ON TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2008
Teacher Halo Shapiro needs parents to role-play as â school board membersâ in an Econ class simulation during second (8:45AM to 9:35AM) and third (9:50AM to 10:40AM) periods. Volunteers will watch students present short PowerPoint presentations on analyzing supply and demand for a fictional high school food court, then ask students questions about their plans for the cafeteria program. Contact Ms. Shapiro at hshapiro at seq.org for more info about this fun opportunity to see high school learning in action.

M-A Sleep Program Receives National Award
The National Sleep Foundation recognized Menlo-Athertonâ s Teen Sleep Program with an Honorable Mention in its 2008 Healthy Sleep Community competition. The Sleep Foundation acknowledged M-A for providing an â innovative, far-reaching sleep education campaign.â M-A and the University of Arizona received honorable mentions with â Cribs for Kidsâ , a Pittsburg Pennsylvania program, winning this yearâ s award.
Congratulations to the M-A community for receiving this national recognition, and thank you to everyone who has supported the program!

SWIMMING
The Swim Bears swept Westmoor! The Girls F/S won 126-52 and Boys F/S won 88-83. Varsity girls swept the relays with our Fabulous Foursome (Morgan Leech, Vanessa Lane, Becca Dorst, and Sarah Winters) posting CCS times for both the 200 and 400 Free Relays. Individual winners were Hannah Breen (200 Free 2:10.11 and 100 Free 58.79) and Becca Dorst (50 Free 26.83 and 500 Free 5:52.73). Varsity boys continued their streak with Kai Masuda (200 Free 1:53.05 and 100 Free 51.82), Richard Hong (200 IM 2:05.98 CCS), Chris Kelvie (100 Fly 55.40), Jason Kwok (500 Free 5:29.53). As a team, these four were also terrific, finishing the 400 Free Relay with a 3:35.59 CCS time. The next meet is Thursday, March 27 at M-A, versus Carlmont.
LACROSSE
Congrats to the Varsity girls lacrosse team for beating Harker on Friday with a final score of 22-3. Margho Dunnahoo-Kirsch â 6 goals, Alex Fanelli â 5 goals, Casey Burnett â 4 goals, 1-assist, Julie Menninger â 2 goals, 1-assist, Anna Murveit â 2 goals, 1 assist, Rei Nakamura â 1 goal, 1-assist, Eileen Johnson â 1 goal, and Caroline Stroud â 1 goal. Congrats to Rei for a great game, Anna for covering the entire field, and Kendal Eder for some great passing.
BASEBALL
The varsity baseball team had a great week, defeating Mills Thursday 24-3 with an amazing 30 hits spread throughout the lineup. Michael Masket homered twice, Matt Mosher hit his sixth home run of the year and Lee Bader also went yard. On Saturday, the bats continued to sizzle as M-A defeated Washington 12-5. Matt Mosher hit his 7th homer of the season. Also homering was Jeff Keller.
Go Bears. Grrrr.
