Tuesday, June 10, 2008, First day of summer school.
Happy Summer - here are a couple of remaining announcements.
NEW BEARNOTES FORMAT COMING
Our outgoing PTA Co-presidents, Pam Stoner and Julie Brody, have
spearheaded our transfer to a new email information format. Along with
a cast of thousands, they have helped organize, test, coordinate and
plan for the launch of BearNotes over this summer. We have been beta
testing the format and content and plan to launch the first official
BearNote before Arena Registration this summer. The new format will be
in HTML, with an option to receive the content in plain text only.
Current recipients of eNotes should not have to take any action to
receive BearNotes, although we will send out a late summer eNote to
ensure everyone is getting the new BearNotes (i.e. not going into the
Spam filter accidentally). If you know of someone who wishes to sign up
for BearNotes, please refer them to this website:
http://www.mabearspta.org/enotes.html. We recommend that you sign up
for all the lists (years) in which you have a child enrolled and
scheduled to graduate. We occasionally send targeted emails to certain
graduating classes. Instructions on submissions are contained on the
website previously referenced. A key point is to get submissions in
EARLY and make them complete.
AND SPEAKING OF ENOTES...
eNotes, a labor of love, evolved over the last several years. Starting
primarily as a vehicle to report on school activities (mainly sports),
it grew to encompass most all information distributed electronically on
behalf of the M-A PTA. We would like to take the time to recognize a
tireless worker who supported eNotes, worked with data, managed mailing
lists, emailed the Notes when other editors were not there, working with
the school technology folks to get the ball rolling on everything, and
who has been a darned fine mentor. Maria Flaherty has been an
invaluable asset to ensuring that news got sent out electronically to a
pretty broad audience. Even now, with her youngest graduating, Maria
has continued to work to set up the incoming Freshman mailing list and
transfer the email addresses to our new vehicle - BearNotes. We can't
thank you enough, Maria. Take care, and best of luck.
DID YOUR CHILD TAKE P.E. THIS YEAR?
If your students do not plan to continue using their gym clothes, you
can donate them to M-A students who need them. Please take them to the
office before it closes in July and ask that they be given to Outreach.
LIBRARY BOOKS, TEXTBOOKS, AND SUMMER TEXTBOOKS
All library books and textbooks should be returned as soon as possible.
Students taking summer school classes can check out textbooks starting
June 9. Summer library hours: June 9 through the end of June,
8:00am-2:30pm; closed for lunch 12:00 noon-12:45pm. The library will be
closed during July and will reopen the beginning of August with the same
summer hours as June. Questions during the summer? Call 322-5311,
x5162.
Go Bears. Grrrr.
