SOCCER
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Congratulations to both girls soccer teams for their victories against Sequoia last Thursday. The varsity squad throttled the Lady Cherokees 3-0 with goals from Gillian Collom, Stephanie Lee, and Tess Cain, who scored her first goal of the season from 35 yards out. Keeper Brooke Weisenfluh and some potent defense secured the shutout.

Way to go Frosh/Soph teammates Mae Bethel, Molly Gould, Christine Ochoa & Amy Young in contributing goals against Sequoia High last week. All attempts to score by the girls in purple were definitively squashed by keepers Karin Hiltbrand and Brigid McCurdy to secure the 4-0 shutout. Keeper Karin Hiltbrand, who was filling in for the injured Brigid McCurdy, earned her first shutout of the season. This is team work in action - Coach Snow and the girls are doing a great job this season - game by game, win by win.

Next week the Frosh/Soph team will play San Mateo High on Tuesday in San Mateo and Woodside High on Thursday at home on Coach Parks Field. Game time is 4:15pm. Come out and cheer on this spirited team to another victory or two.

WRESTLING
The M-A wrestling team posted its third win in a row with a 56-21 victory over Mills on Thursday. In Milbrae, Roger Tonna, Zach Adham, Sam Peirce and James Buttram pinned their opponents. Cory Gray and Joe Buttram scored technical falls, and Tony Staples won by major decision. The team will be up before sunrise this Saturday for a tournament at West Valley College in Saratoga.

BASKETBALL
The boys' varsity basketball team now enjoys a 4-0 league record following their Friday night victory against Woodside 68-58. Richard Branning had a sizzling shooting night, ending up with a career-high 29 points while Brendan McGrath finished with 13 and Peter DeFilipps and Sam Knapp both ended up with 12.

SOFTBALL
Coach Locke has been named the new Head Coach for the Girls Frosh/Soph softball team. However, due to wet and cold weather, there will be no conditioning for softball today. We will try again on Thursday.

SWIMMING
MA Swimming will have a mandatory meeting on Wednesday Jan. 23 at 2:00 at the pool.

SPORTS PACKAGES DUE NOW
NOW is the time to finish your spring sports packets. Tryouts begin next week on Monday and you need to have your paperwork finished. Donâ t stand in line on Friday. it will be frustrating and you may not get processed on time. Go see Ms. Orcott in the AVP office TODAY!

Go Bears. Grrrr.
