Please come to M-A's 2007 Back-to-School Night this Thursday, September 20th.
Schedule: 6:30 p.m., Information Tables at Pride Hall
7:00 p.m., Principal Matthew Zito's Address in Ayers Gym (near Ringwood)
7:35 p.m., first bell to visit classrooms (follow your student's schedule)
9:05 and 9:20 p.m., respectively, last bells for 6th and 7th periods
Parking: You may park in any legal space in any lot at M-A. In addition, parking will be available in the SRI lot on the corner of Ravenswood and Middlefield (also known as the Church Lot) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunset will be at 7:15 p.m.; buildings and hallways are well-lit, but some campus grounds are not, so you may want to bring a flashlight to make your way back to your car safely.

The Stanford University School of Education study on student stress and academic engagement (SOS: Stressed-Out Students project) is coming to M-A on September 25! If you would like your student to be included in this important CONFIDENTIAL study, please sign and return a parent Consent form: SOS Survey Consent English or SOS Survey Consent Spanish. SOS: Stressed-Out Students is a research and intervention project whose goal is to improve student mental and physical health, engagement in school, and academic and personal integrity in the school community. Dr. Pope's SOS project hopes to implement strategies and activities within a school and community that can help reduce student stress, while encouraging engaged learning that is active, relevant and based on students' individual learning needs.
DIRECTORY
Last Chance to Order an Extra Copy of the M-A 2007-2008 Directory. The M-A PTA publishes and distributes one M-A Directory to each registered student in early October. The new Directory will include a two page calendar with student activities and important dates, and contact information for staff, students, and PTA board and committee members. The Directory will continue as a valuable source for M-A information for both students and parents. CHALLENGE DAYS (Oct. 29 and 30)
1.) Thank you to all of those folks who have signed up for Freshman Challenge Days so far. We are now down to needing only 20 small group leaders. Come and enjoy a fun and "hands on" experience with the new freshman class of 2011(all 530 of them!). Time commitment is 7:15-3:00. Email Betsy at betbowe at earthlink.net.
2.) TRAINING DAY CHANGE: the optional one-hour training for small group leaders will be held on Sat. Oct. 20 (not Oct. 27 as per the previous enotes), room B-21, 9:00-10:00. If you cannot attend this meeting, there is a Challenge Day website that gives all the details about Challenge Day activities and also offers a 15 minute video to view. DANCES
The "Fire It Up" Welcome Back dance is Friday, September 28 on the gym quad from 7:00 to 10:00, tickets will be sold on the green every day at lunch. Tickets are $5 now, but $7 at the door. So make sure to buy them at advance!!!
SENIOR PORTRAITS
Time is running out. It's time to get your senior portrait taken. If you want your picture in the yearbook, the deadline to take your senior portrait is September 28th. Seniors who have not taken their portraits by September 28th will NOT be in the yearbook. Come to room G7 if you have any questions.

SENIOR SUNRISE
Hey Seniors!!!!! Next Thursday September 27, at 6 AM, we will all be getting up to watch the sun rise it is our Senior Sunrise, it is our first all Senior event. Itâ s a great way to start out our year together! There will be A LOT of free food for everyone!!!!!! Come join us to watch the sun come up as our days count down!

Golf
Menlo-Atherton High School had an impressive win over Mills High School on Monday afternoon. The match took place at Poplar Creek. M-A's total score was 188, 24 points below Mills at 212.
Tennis
After crushing the Dons of Carlmont, 5-2, the undefeated Girl's Tennis Team with a record of 5-0 will take on Menlo on Thursday for sole possession of 1st place in the PAL. Come to Menlo at 3:30 to cheer on the Bears as they try for the upset and the 1st win ever over the defending CCS Champion Knights.
Water Polo
Congratulations Water Polo Bears for sweeping San Mateo by double-digits. Good luck, JV at your tournaments this weekend!
