It's October, and with barely one month to go, it's all about the 
Fashion Show!
 
Fashion show tickets are now on sale!  Go to mabears.org, find 
"downloads" on the top bar, go to "PTA" then to page two.  Print out the 
order form and follow the directions.
 
Seniors in the show....The Fashion Show will be sending out student 
placements this week. Look for our mailing. Make sure your senior reads 
it and knows rehearsals start. Dance rehearsals start next week.
 
Raffle...we are giving away an iPhone!  Check the ticket order form to 
see the prizes for our raffle. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You can 
order by mail on the ticket order form or on the day of the show.
 
PSAT
 
The PSAT test will be administered at M-A on Saturday, October 20 from 
7:45 to 10:45 a.m. To register, students must bring a check for $25 to 
their English teacher by next Wednesday, October 10. All college-bound 
juniors should take the PSAT to be eligible for the National Merit 
Scholarship program. See Ms. Strub in C-15 if you have questions about 
the PSAT.
 
JUNGLE ALLURE
 
Only 19 more days until October 27 and homecoming! Homecoming tickets 
for this year's Jungle Allure Homecoming Dance from 8 pm to midnight at 
Bay Meadows are on sale NOW on the green at lunch Monday through Friday, 
and Fridays after school.
 
PARENTS OF FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS: START PLANNING TO PAY FOR COLLEGE
 
Costs are going up faster than most salaries, so you won't want to miss 
this outstanding event, scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, from 7-8:30 
p.m. in the Menlo-Atherton library. Join M-A college advisor Alice 
Kleeman and presenters from Edfund, Citigroup, and Bellarmine College 
Prep for an information-packed evening,  Financial aid is a complex 
topic, but you will walk away from the program feeling confident in your 
ability to analyze your options and navigate the forms.  Q&A will be 
provided, along with simultaneous Spanish translation
 
Note that parents of seniors will have their own workshop with Alice in 
January.

FOOTBALL
 
The varsity football team took their record to 4 -1 with a dominating 
win over Terra Nova Friday night 44-14.  Their offense couldn't be 
stopped with six rushing touchdowns:  three from Willie Latu, two from 
Jamal Wilkins and one from Shaka Pahaulu.  Lee Bader converted on his 
first varsity field goal. Come cheer the team on at their game next 
Saturday, October 13, at 2:00 at Menlo.
 
VOLLEYBALL
 
Come support the volleyball girls this Thursday, October 11, in their 
game against Mills!  JV plays at 3:15, and Varsity at 4:30.
 
TENNIS
 
The M-A Girl's Tennis Team upped their league record to 7-1 with a 7-0 
thrashing of Aragon.  The win secured their current second place 
standing in the PAL.  Undefeated #1 & #2 players, Marietta Tuionetoa and 
Marjorie Adams, continued their dominance in league play losing only one 
game between them in their matches against the Dons.
