ENVIRONMENTAL TIP OF THE WEEK

And now, Bears, for the environmental tidbit of the week. If just 25% of U.S. families used 10 fewer plastic bags a month, we would save over 2.5 BILLION bags a year. CROSS COUNTRY

M-A BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY MAKE CCS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to the frosh-soph Girls Cross Country team who placed 2nd at PALs on Thursday. The team was lead by Julia Vitale and her 2nd place finish. Julia's times this year for 3 miles have placed her as one of the top runners in recent school history. Senior Suzanne Eldredge also qualified individually placing 14th out of 90 varsity girls to represent M-A at CCS.

The Boyâ s Cross Country Team took 4th place out of 17 teams on a hot dusty afternoon at the PAL Championship Meet held at Crystal Springs Cross Country Center on Thursday. Three of their six runners ran under 17 minutes. The team was lead by Andy DelCalvo running a very fast 16:39. The boys ran valiantly and look forward to the CCS championships on Saturday, November 10th at Crystal Springs.

Way to go, Bears. Good luck at CCS Finals next week.

WATERPOLO

A big CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Polo Bears for a fabulous season! The Boys and Girls championship games were played back-to-back against Menlo School in our own version of the "Big Game". In matches that were exciting from start-to-finish, the girls defeated Menlo 4-3, bringing home the *GOLD* for the first time in M-A history, while the boys played like champions, but came up short 8-9. Both teams now move on to CCS this weekend, where they look forward to more Bear action!

FOOTBALL

Congratulations to the varsity football team which clinched at least a share of the league title with their victory over South San Francisco on Saturday, 37-10. The defense had another impressive performance led by Litani MoiMoi, Josh Afungia and Andrew Klein. Troy McCabe threw a touchdown strike to Sam Knapp and M-A also had four rushing touchdowns - two by Jamal Wilkins, one by Bobby Bustos and one from Willie Latu. Lee Bader also joined in the scoring fest with a 32-yard field goal. Come cheer on the Bears for their last league game as they try to capture the league title outright against Woodside this Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at Woodside.

GO BEARS!

Grrrrr.
