PTA: THE END OF THE YEAR IS HERE

The final PTA general meeting of the academic year will be held
Thursday, May 31, at 8:45 a.m. in the RISE room at the back of the J
Building. We will vote on the preliminary 2007-2008 PTA budget, meet
the new PTA Executive Board members, and hear final words from Denise
Plante, our much-loved and appreciated outgoing Principal. We will also
elect our Representative-at-Large to the 2007-2008 Menlo-Atherton SDMSC
(Shared Decision-Making Site Council); candidate statements for those
running for this position are posted on the PTA webpage on the website
at www.mabears.org/content/view/139/30

Right after the meeting, all outgoing and incoming PTA chairpersons of
all our committees (over 25 in all) will meet to transfer crucial
operating information. Please attend!

JUNIOR PARENTS: A FUN AND EASY JOB AWAITS YOU

Experience the excitement of Grad Night by helping with check-in from
7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7. Contact Margie Lawrence at
mlawrence at mppc.org for more information.

AP EUROPEAN HISTORY: DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY

The study of European history introduces students to cultural, economic,
political, and social developments that have played a fundamental role
in shaping the world in which they live, and gives them the background
for understand modern institutions, politics, and culture.

Most high schools do not offer this AP course, so if your sophomore or
junior wants to study history in college, having this course on the
transcript will be a plus for college admissions. Moreover, studying
European history will enhance your student's perspectives and world view.

One of the reasons that M-A is an outstanding school is that it offers
these kinds of AP courses. Please encourage your students to take
advantage of this phenomenal opportunity by talking to a counselor ASAP.

AWOL: CAREER CENTER MATERIALS

Please ask your students to check under their beds and in their
bookcases to see if they have any Career Center materials in their
possession. Students should return any materials before the end of the
year.

WHO WANTS A PARKING TICKET?

Warn your juniors and seniors to park in the T-lot/senior lot to avoid
getting a parking ticket. The Atherton police will be ticketing any
student who uses the faculty parking, U-lot, or other campus lot.
Anyone parking on campus must have a permit.

LOW COST PHYSICALS

Amy Jamison, head athletic trainer at M-A, wants parents of athletes to
know that BAK Physical Therapy is offering low-cost physicals to all
fall athletes on June 9 from 9-11 a.m. at 705 Oak Grove Avenue, Menlo
Park. The cost is $20 and no insurance is required. Amy also would
like to have parents volunteer to help with crowd control. Email her at
Amy.Jamison at stryker.com if you are interested.

TRACK AND FIELD

A huge congratulatory cheer to our girls 4x100 relay team, headed to the
State Championships this weekend in Sacramento! Wish them the best and
way to go, Keianna, Christina, Dominique and Caprice!

LACROSSE

The varsity girls' championship season translated to postseason honors
for many players. Seniors Tenley Breen (attack), Kayla Ushman
(midfield), and Emily Wright (defense) as well as junior Julia Robinson
(goal) were named to the PAL all-league first team. Seniors Sam Bassin
(midfield) and Megan Power (defense) were named to the second team.
Sophomore Adrian Holland (midfield) received honorable mention.
Congrats to our fine LAX players.
