ENVISIONING OUR FUTURE
The Sequoia Union High School District invites the community to help create=
a new vision statement for the district. There are still four sessions t=
hat you can attend to provide input.
March 1 from 3:45 to 6 p.m. in the Sequoia multi-purpose room. =
March 1 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m, also in the Sequoia multi-purpose room.

WAKE UP!
National Sleep Awareness Week, March 5-11, coincides with the return to Day=
light Saving Time, as clocks "spring forward" at 2:00 a.m. on March 11. He=
lp your kids get enough sleep so they can arrive at school awake and alert =
on March 6, the day all students hear presentations from Stanford students =
enrolled in William Dement's Sleep and Dreams course. More than 100 Stanfor=
d students will be on campus to teach our kids the most important facts abo=

Alice Kleeman recommends this conference for girls in grades 6-12 and inter=
ested adults. It will be held at Skyline College in San Bruno on Saturday,=

FIRST ANNUAL BAY AREA GAP YEAR FAIR
A gap year gives high school graduates an opportunity for personal growth, =
potentially leading to clearer direction and greater motivation for college=
or whatever path the student pursues. The gap year may include travel, cu=
ltural immersion, directed study, service or conservation projects, interns=
hip opportunities, and more. The conference will be held at Albany High Sc=

ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE
Twice a year, San Jose State holds an excellent engineering open house. Ev=
en if your students are not interested in attending San Jose State (though =
I'm not sure why they wouldn't be, as SJSU has more graduates working in Si=
licon Valley than does any other university), they can explore varied engi=
neering fields and see incredible students projects, perhaps learning which=
branch of engineering is most tempting. The event will take place on Satu=
rday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Registration information is availa=

JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM...
...will be here before you know it. This year's prom is scheduled for Frid=
ay, May 11 at the San Francisco Regency Center at 1300 Van Ness Avenue from=

WANTED: OLD COMPUTERS FOR NEEDY STUDENTS

BADMINTON
Note the changes to the tryout schedule for the week. Today and Thursday, =
March 1, tryouts will be open to all athletes. Returning athletes only sho=
uld attend tryouts tomorrow, February 28. Friday may or may not be used fo=
r tryouts. All tryouts are held from 7-9 p.m. in the old gym. Note that ne=
xt Tuesday, March 6 at 5 p.m., is picture day.
BASKETBALL
CCS Basketball continues tonight with the semifinals. Come cheer the girls=
at 7:30 p.m. vs. St. Francis at Oak Grove High School. Boys play at 5:30 =
pm vs. Mills at Foothill Junior College.
GOLF
On February 20, the boys' varsity golf team won their second preseason game=
at Sharon Heights (par 36) against Aragon by a team score of 203 to 239. =
Leading the pack was Ben Jackson with a 39, followed by Elliot Hume, Greg S=
ako, and Nick Sako, each shooting 40. The season opener is today, February=
27 against Carlmont at Sharon Heights. .
