growth, potentially leading to clearer direction and greater motivation
for college or whatever path the student pursues. The gap year may

ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE

Twice a year, San Jose State holds an excellent engineering open house.
Even if your students are not interested in attending San Jose State
(though I'm not sure why they wouldn't be, as SJSU has more graduates
working in Silicon Valley than does any other university), they can
explore varied engineering fields and see incredible students projects,
perhaps learning which branch of engineering is most tempting. The
event will take place on Saturday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Registration information is available at
http://enrollmentservices.sjsu.edu/asr.
