RAISING TEENS IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY
Having a tough time with your not-so-wee one? Help is here! The San Mateo =
County Sheriff's Diversion Program in collaboration with San Mateo County M=
ental Health Services is sponsoring at 10-week class that will help you hel=
p your children achieve success. Learn how to create a positive discipline=
structure, reduce family conflict, improve school attendance, and prevent =
substance abuse or gang involvement. Class begins Thursday, February 22 an=
d will meet from 6-9 p.m. at 1390 El Camino Real in San Carlos. To learn m=

ENVISIONING OUR FUTURE
The Sequoia Union High School District invites the community to help create=
a new vision statement for the district. Over the next month, the distric=
t will be holding five sessions to gather community input.
February 26 from 4 to 6:15 p.m. at the Woodside High School Student Union =
building (This session will focus on M-A, Woodside, and adult school famili=
es, although you are welcome to attend other sessions if this one doesn't w=
ork for your schedule.
March 1 from 3:45 to 6 p.m. in the Sequoia multi-purpose room. =
March 1 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m, also in the Sequoia multi-purpose room.
March 20 from 6 to 8:15 p.m. in the district office at 480 James Street in =

ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE
Twice a year, San Jose State holds an excellent engineering open house. Ev=
en if your students are not interested in attending San Jose State (though =
I'm not sure why they wouldn't be, as SJSU has more graduates working in Si=
licon Valley than does any other university), they can explore varied engi=
neering fields and see incredible students projects, perhaps learning which=
branch of engineering is most tempting. The event will take place on Satu=
rday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Registration information is availa=

JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM...

TENNIS
The boys' team kicked off the 2007 season with two convincing non-conferenc=
e wins, defeating powerhouses Serra of San Mateo and Independence High of S=
an Jose, 5-2 and 6-1 respectively. Anchored by Captain Noah Greenberg and v=
eterans, Zach Schwab, George Horowitz, Roland Smith, Carson Weiss, Matt Hub=
ble, Evan Kelso and talented newcomers Alec Haley and Matt Aguilar, the Bea=
rs are looking to challenge for the PAL title.
WRESTLING
Our varsity wrestlers traveled to Terra Nova over the four-day weekend for =
the Peninsula Athletic League tournament. Junior Joe Buttram took fourth pl=
ace at 152 lbs, Sophomore Matt Fitzgerald took home third place at 119 lbs,=
Roger Tonna was the runner-up at 112 lbs, and senior Edwin Pech defended h=
is 2006 league title by taking home first place honors. Edwin, with a 17-0=
record, will compete next weekend in the CCS tournament at Overfelt High S=
chool.

Why is it that some sport teams are always here in enotes or in the news pa=
per and other teams are not? Well that is because the coach or booster rep=
submits the information. If you would like to see your childs team here t=
hen work with the coach to submit the informatin.
