ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE
Twice a year, San Jose State holds an excellent engineering open house.
Even if your students are not interested in attending San Jose State
(though I'm not sure why they wouldn't be, as SJSU has more graduates
working in Silicon Valley than does any other university), they can
explore varied engineering fields and see incredible students projects,
perhaps learning which branch of engineering is most tempting. The
event will take place on Saturday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Registration information is available at
http://enrollmentservices.sjsu.edu/asr.

SPORTS
FORE!
The 3rd Annual M-A Bears Golf Classic is scheduled for Saturday, April
28 at Coyote Creek Golf Club in San Jose. All golfers at any level are
welcome to participate, enjoy a day of fun, and support the
Menlo-Atherton Boys Golf Teams. Contact tournament director Norm Hall
at putt4doe at gmail.com for more info.
GOLF
The boys' golf team won its first preseason match against Serra,
defending CCS champs, by a team score of 201 to 203. Leading
scorers for the 36 par, 9 hole match at Sharon Heights were Nick Sako
with a 37 and Greg Sako with a 38. Remember.....the lower the score the
better!
The boys JV golf team was also off to a stellar start, winning multiple
matches at Crystal Springs against Burlingame, Carlmont, and Menlo, with
a team score of 252 against Menlo's 260, Burlingame's 261, and
Carlmont's 253. Leading scorer (medalist) was M-A's sophomore Brian
Jordan, who shot 44. This counts as 3 wins!
BASKETBALL
The girls' varsity team defeated Aragon last night in the first round of
the PAL playoffs at M-A 55-46. Erica Hayes and Linda Pita led the
scoring, while Arielle McKee pulled down 11 rebounds and had 1 assist.
The boys' varsity basketball team defeated Burlingame 67 - 38 thanks to
a concerted effort led by high scorer Sam Knapp, Nicky Fogel, and Steve
Call. An all around superb defense effort frustrated Burlingame at
every turn.
PAL Playoffs continue tomorrow at South City High with semifinals at 3
pm (girls) and 7:30 pm (boys). The finals are scheduled for Saturday
night (girls 6 pm, boys 7:30 p.m.). Hoops are rollin'!
