ATTENTION FRESHMAN PARENTS: "FOOD FOR THOUGHT TUTORING CENTER"
Peer Freshman Tutoring Centers have been running every Tuesday since
mid- October and we would like more 9th grade students to attend. At
the beginning of this year, Principal Zito presented an idea to
Leadership students and the result of this idea has become a center
designed for 9th grade students to study with upper-classmen who could
tutor them in Math, Science, English and World Studies. This is the
message your student will hear at school. Ask them about it. "Are you
getting pumped for FINALS? If you need help studying for your big
tests, come to Cocoa and Crunch study centers!! Cocoa and Crunch will
be held next Tuesday and Wednesday after school until 4:30 in classes
G-8, G-12, and G-13. Come get hot chocolate, delicious cookies, and
help for finals from very bright leadership students. Bring your
friends, have fun, and study hard! Hope to see everyone there!!" Please
encourage your student to attend the peer-led tutoring centers located
in G-12 and G-13, every Tuesday after-school until 4:30 pm. Next
Tuesday, December 11th, there will be a special center devoted to
studying for finals labeled "Cocoa and Crunch". Students will be
provided a quiet and supportive environment to study while sipping on
hot chocolate. Please encourage your freshman to join us, helping them
be more successful in their final exams. Andy Stuart, Leadership
Teacher.
FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE
It's that time of year - - time to make your donation to the Foundation
for the Future, if you haven't already! Your student is benefiting from
classes and programs funded by the Foundation and we need your help to
provide an exceptional education at M-A for every student. As the
semester draws to close, we hope you will take a minute to think about
what a great school this is. Thanks to the support of caring parents
like you, M-A has made enormous improvements in recent years, including
smaller class sizes, expanded course offerings and special programs.
What better way to celebrate 2007, the year that M-A received
prestigious designation as a California Distinguished School, than with
a donation to the Foundation for the Future? You can send in a check in
the remit envelope provided in this week's Trivocis, or you can donate
on-line at http://www.m-afoundation.org/donate.php right now, even in
monthly installments. Every gift is important. Questions? Contact Cindy
Folker at cfolker at seq.org or (650) 322-5311x5206. Heartfelt thanks to
all our generous donors to date.

welcome any contribution, large or small. Donations MUST be turned in

SOCCER
Congratulations to the M-A Varsity Girl's Soccer Team for beating San
Mateo 2-0. Excellent goals by Vanessa and Mariana, the Midfield was
dominated by Katie Flanagan and Stephanie Lee, Madeline Wheeler kept us
strong in the back and we can't forget our terrific goal keepers Brooke
Weisenfluh and Melissa Hall! Way to go girls, make sure and keep it up.
On Wednesday, the Varsity Boys Soccer Team beat St. Ignatius 3-2. David Lopez scored twice to lead the team and Johnny Lara scored the game winner off an assist from Christian Ayala. Come support them as they start league play against Menlo today at 3pm here at M-A. Varsity players are to report to the field at 2 pm.
BASKETBALL
The boys' varsity basketball team had a very busy and successful week.
They finished third in the Burlingame tournament with a 54 to 42 victory
over Gunn, a 57 to 47 defeat to Menlo and a strong 69 to 41 win over
Burlingame. Nicky Fogel and Peter DeFillips were both named to the
All-Tournament team. The team then took on Sacred Heart Saturday night
and battled to a 71 to 59 victory. Please come out and support the team
at home this Tuesday at 6:30 in a Toys for Tots game. Marines will be
there collecting new, unwrapped gifts and we would love to send them
away laden with Menlo-Atherton generosity. Lastly, check out the
basketball website at maboysbasketball.org for all the latest news and
stats.
BOOSTER REPS NEEDED
Booster Reps needed for Wrestling and Boys Varsity Soccer teams. The Booster representative is the communication link between boosters and the team parents. They are the person responsible for making sure the team gets its time in the spotlight by forwarding game scores and highlights to the eNotes editor, and getting pictures for the sports night video. Please contact trish at digimitch.com if you could be a rep for either team. Thanks! Trish Mitchell.
