*BEAR NEWS*

Reminder that there is NO SCHOOL MONDAY. I know students want to come to school, but they must rest. . . .

Class assemblies will be held for 9th graders and 11th graders on Tuesday and Friday for 10th & 12th graders.

The fall Technology Exam will be next Wednesday, September 5th. Last day to sign up for the exam is Friday, August 31st. Please sign up in the Guidance Office. Students that are signed up for the Tech Exam on Wednesday, September 5th can get more information about what will be on the exam by going to www.mabears.org, clicking on the "District Website" then clicking on "Student and Parent Information". There you will find Technology Requirement information.

BEARS - on Tuesday, September 4th at lunch, leadership students will be walking around spreading school spirit by painting faces. They will also be on the green. SO DONâ T HIDE THAT BEAR PRIDE!!

Did your child play soccer once upon a time? Have them bring old AYSO soccer uniforms to B-21 so that they can be donated to local organizations for needy kids.

The M-A drama program has started this year in full gear and is already working on its new play â A Midsummer Nightâ s Dreamâ . To audition, or help out with the Shakespearean work of art, talk to Mr. Maier in M-3 for more details on signing up or going to a monologue workshop.

Freshman Family Potluck and Freshman Dance.

Hey, Freshman! Reminder, the 6th period Leadership class invites you to the Freshmen Family Welcome potluck. It will be September 7th at 6 o'clock on the Girl's soccer field. Come meet and dine with your fellow freshman families before the Freshman Dance, from 7 to 10. Have you gotten your dance ticket yet? Get them now before they sell out! Tickets will be sold on the green at lunch every day this week!

*PTA*

M-A PTA will hold its first general meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 5th at 8:30 a.m. in Room F-15 (located near the rear of the M-A campus). Everyone is welcome! Check eNotes next week for a map of the campus and a special on-campus parking permit for those attending this important inaugural meeting. On the agenda: voting on the proposed budget, select committee chairperson reports on upcoming events, and a guest speaker, M-A Principal, Mr. Matthew Zito. We look forward to seeing you there.

*COMPUTER ACADEMY â Chaperones Needed*

The Menlo-Atherton Computer Academy is seeking 3-5 chaperones to help take a group of students to the Marin Headlands Institute for a fantastic experiential environmental science workshop. The group will leave M-A on Monday 9/10 at approximately 8:30 am, stay overnight and then return to M-A on Tuesday 9/11 at approximately 3:30 pm. It is certain to be a great time. We need chaperones to spend the night with us - it is one of the Marin Headlands Institute's requirements. Please contact Lance Powell for more information (lpowell at seq.org).

*CLUBS*

ONE

Earth has a major issue; millions upon millions of people are in extreme poverty. Fortunately, Mr. Tilson has started an M-A branch of the nationwide organization â ONEâ to fight poverty. Students should come meet Fridays at lunch in L-1 to learn how to educate the people of the Bay Area to the things that they can do to help out with this global issue. Come see what you can do to help!

LUNATICS

Whether you want to become a member or just stop in to find out what Lunatics is all about, we can't wait to see Bears on Mondays and Wednesdays in C-15.

KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL

Hey, Bears! Are you interested in meeting new people and helping out your community? You'll learn all about Key Club International and participate in many fun activities if you attend our meetings every Wednesday at lunch in D-10, Mr. Brodkey's room! It will make a difference in your life and looks great for college applications and scholarships. Invite all your friends and see you there!

SENIORS

Last chance to get a parking permit. Whether or not your student is on the waiting list, there are parking spaces available for seniors. If your child hasn't picked up an application yet, have them get and complete an application in the Vice Principal's office. Remember they must have purchased a PAL sticker ($25) & the permit is $25 for a total of $50. Again, this is the last chance. They have until close of business TODAY to get all paperwork in for the permit! If they have their application ready and haven't turned it in, DO SO NOW! Do this at lunch or after school.

*ATHLETICS*

Lacrosse

Interested in playing lacrosse in the spring, but have no experience? Want to get into shape? We have fall ball for girls and boys. For more information send an email to ma.bears.lacrosse at gmail.com.
