To All New, Returning (and Interested) ESL Tutors,
We're gearing up for this school year's PTA ESL Tutoring Program. An invitation will be distributed shortly to our kick-off information meeting with the school administration regarding ESL classes, teachers, curriculum, tutoring needs etc.etc.
We look forward to seeing our dedicated group of tutors returning this year and welcome and encourage new volunteers to join us in our efforts to support those students struggling to negotiate high school in a language that is not their own. An hour or two per week of your time can make a huge difference to a student's individual success when they have so many challenges to overcome. Neither knowledge of Spanish or experience with tutoring is necessary -
tutors work closely with one, two or small groups of students helping mostly with English conversation and writing skills. Anyone interested in volunteering for this rewarding and worthwhile opportunity should contact:

Cathy Fairgrieve Sally Fundakowski

The M-A AVID program (for middle level students with a goal of attending college) is looking for college-age or adult volunteers to work with our students as tutors. AVID tutors need not be experts in any particular subject, just patient and academically inclined. Our tutorials consist of groups of AVID students working together to answer each other's questions; the tutor's role is to facilitate these discussions and monitor participation. Our greatest need is on the block days: Wednesdays 9:40 - 11:20 (juniors/seniors) & 12:05 - 1:40 (sophomores) and Thursdays 9:40 - 11:20 (freshmen). If you or your college-age son or daughter is available and willing to volunteer, please contact AVID Coordinator John Giambruno at jgiambru at seq.org or 650-238-4536. Thank you for your support!
