SAT SUBJECT EXAMS

The recent Trivocis article about SAT subject exam preparation at M-A
mentioned that the signup date for these sessions is Wednesday, April 18
at lunch. However, you must sign up for the exams themselves by going to
www.collegeboard.com. Although the deadline for the June 2 exams is
April 27, the earlier you sign up, the greater the likelihood that you
will find space in a local school and not have to drive to San Francisco
(or farther) that day.

Note also that students need to indicate how many tests they are taking
on June 2 when they complete the online registration. They can wait
until June 2 to indicate which exams they want to take, but if they sign
up for only two exams, for example, they can only take 1 or 2; they
cannot take three that day.

SENIOR PARENTS: TIME TO ORDER CAPS AND GOWNS

Make sure your senior picks up cap and gown information in B-21. All
graduation and prom information is available online at www.mabears.org.
Note also that students who cannot afford caps and gowns can apply for
financial aid. See Geri Nicholas in the office.

KEEP THOSE IPODS AND BLACKBERRIES HOME

Students are not to bring electronic devices to school for any reason,
and should keep their backpacks and other possessions with them or
locked up at all times. The administration will not investigate the
theft of electronic devices or unattended items.

GRAD NIGHT NOTES

The decorations committee for Grad Night 2007 needs white, clear lights
on cords (Christmas tree lights). If you can loan yours, please send
them with your student to the collection box in the school office.

Also, make sure that your senior has purchased Grad Night 2007 tickets
for the PTA-sponsored, all-night, safe & sober party that will take
place on the night of Graduation. Ticket requests are available in
English and Spanish in the school office, and must be signed by parents
and accompanied by a check for $100.00 payable to M-A Grad Night 2007.
Scholarships are available; students should speak to Geri Nicholas.

JUNIOR PARENTS' GUIDANCE NIGHT WITH KAREN RAMIREZ

The meeting, scheduled for Monday, April 23 from 7-8 p.m in the M-A
library features a jam-packed 60 minute meeting about senior year at
M-A. Karen Ramirez, lead guidance counselor, will speak on school and
district graduation completion requirements. Hear about PTA-sponsored
events such as the annual October Fashion Show and Grad Night
celebration in June. This meeting gives you an overview of the year to
come. (Note that this is not a college planning night.) Please RSVP to
PTA Junior Parents' Night co-chairs Charlene Margot at
charlenemargot at yahoo.com or Stacia Weisenfluh at sweisenfluh at covad.net.

JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM/TOIL FOR TICKETS

This year's prom is scheduled for Friday, May 11 at the San Francisco
Regency Center at 1300 Van Ness Avenue from 8 pm to midnight. Guest
passes will be available April 1. For more info, contact Jenna Carson
at jcarson at seq.org.

Starting Monday, April 2, students who want to earn the money for
tickets should sign up in B-20. Each hour of work outside class hours
earns students a 10 credit towards a dance ticket! See Mrs Todd in B-20
with any questions.

WANTED: OLD COMPUTERS FOR NEEDY STUDENTS

Do you or your business have an old computer that you do not need any
more? We will securely erase all the data, refurbish it, and send it
home with a deserving M-A student who has no access +to a computer at
home. Help clear out your garage and bridge the digital divide!
Contact Sue Kayton, kayton at alum.mit.edu, 650-853-1711.

FORE!

The 3rd Annual M-A Bears Golf Classic is scheduled for Saturday, April
28 at Coyote Creek Golf Club in San Jose. All golfers at any level are
welcome to participate, enjoy a day of fun, and support the
Menlo-Atherton Boys Golf Teams. Contact tournament director Norm Hall
at putt4doe at gmail.com for more info.

TENNIS

The team took on the SCVAL first place team, Gunn, at Gunn. The gritty
Bears fought tooth and nail and lost a tough one with four lost matches
coming down to the decisive third set. A mere 24 hours later, the Bears
returned home to host Aragon and returned to their winning ways with a
6-1 trouncing of the Dons. In doubles, the teams of Noah
Greenberg/Taylor Burwell and Roland Smith/Evan Kelso each recorded a
shutout set as did #2 singles player, Alec Haley. The Bears next take
on league leading Menlo at M-A tomorrow at 3:30 pm. Come out and root on
your Bears!

GOLF

The varsity golfers hope to follow their victory over Burlingame last
Thursday with a win tomorrow, April 3, against Sequoia. The Bears are
now 5-1 in league play.

LACROSSE

The JV girls roll to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in league, with a 14-4 victory
over Gunn. Alex Fanelli and Monserrat Benavides each led the Bears with
5 goals, as Eileen Johnson scored 2 and Chloe Peters and Taylor Wentz
chipped in with 1 goal apiece.

The varsity girls faced their former assistant coach Friday and remained
undefeated in PAL league play (6-0; 8-1 overall) with a 14 - 5 victory
over Gunn. Eight Bears found the net - Adrian Holland (4 goals, 1
assist), Kayla Ushman (2 goals, 3 assists), Tenley Breen (2 goals),
Mackenzie Rodgers (2 goals), Emily Wright (1 goal, 1 assist), Sam
Bassin (1 goal, 1 assist), Katie Fanelli (1 goal), and Marisa Zuk
(scoring the first goal of her varsity career). The defense played
another outstanding game. Netminder Julia Robinson made 9 saves and Rei
Nakamura provided a strong defensive presence. The girls are next in
action tomorrow at Woodside.
