HOLIDAY SHOP ON CAMPUS

Get a great deal on beautiful and unique gifts for sale tomorrow, from
noon to 3:30 outside the library. All items have been lovingly
handcrafted by our own ceramics students, and proceeds will go to the
art program and the artists.

MORE GIFT IDEAS

Looking for a fun gift for your teenager? How about some BEAR WEAR!
The M-A student store is fully stocked with t-shirts for $10, baseball
t-shirts for $15, white crewneck sweatshirts for $20 and gray pocket
hoodies for $25. Also, support your student's class by buying a class
shirt for a mere $10. Come by B-21 any time during school hours and the
cheerful store clerks will help you. Or save time by emailing Kelly
Todd at ktodd at seq.org to place your order.

AND A SPECIAL GIFT IDEA JUST FOR SENIORS

We have the perfect suggestion: a ticket to Grad Night! Buy your ticket
now (or before December 22) to receive an email gift certificate that
you can give your senior. What better way to ensure that your
grad-to-be has a spot reserved at the PTA's safe and sober all-night
celebration party?

Tickets are $85 and scholarships are available. Get your tickets early,
as prices will rise to $100 after January 1. To obtain a ticket order
form or ask questions email gradnight07 at earthlink.net or ticket chair

END-OF-SEMESTER DETAILS

(Of course your students have everything under control...but just in
case you want to remind them...)

Your students will be taking their first semester finals next week. The
seventh period final will be given on Monday, December 18. First and
second period finals are scheduled for December 19, third and fourth
period finals for December 20, and fifth and sixth period finals for
December 21.

Students taking single semester classes (government, econ, world studies
III, gender studies) need to return books after completing finals.
Students who do not return books on time will experience delays
obtaining their second semester books.

Students who need to make a schedule change for second semester need to
stop by the guidance office pronto before school, during brunch or
lunch, or after school. Changes will be made to adjust placement level,
help students meet graduation requirements, or allow students who have
been working as a clerk or TA to take a class

BACK-TO-SCHOOL IN 2007

A reminder that second semester starts Wednesday, January 10 at 7:50
a.m. The J building will open at 7 a.m. and students must pick up their
new schedules before going to class. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
will be regular schedule days; no block days that week.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL IN 2007: YOU CAN HELP

We need your assistance with schedule distribution on Wednesday, January
10, the first day of the second semester. Volunteers will need to
arrive at M-A by 6:50 a.m. and stay until at least 8 a.m (we will need a
few valiant souls to remain until 8:30 to help latecomers and students
who don't have a first period.)

Please email PTA administrative support co-chairs Suzanne Amato or Kim
Mitchell at amato_family at msn.com or kimmitchell75 at sbcglobal.net if you
can help. We'd love to see you bright and early, and this is a great
opportunity for you to share your energy with our students and still get
to work on time!

TECH TEST ON TAP

If your students have yet to pass the technology exam, encourage them to
sign up by January 12 for the next exam, to be administered on
Wednesday, January 17 at 1:45 p.m. They can go to the guidance office
to register.

FINISH STRONG: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We invite all parents to donate a few hours to support the senior
class's special challenge event, Finish Strong, scheduled for Tuesday,
February 20 and Thursday, February 22 from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. With
your help leading small groups or working on event logistics, we can
make a real difference in the lives of our own young adults. Choose the
day you would like to help, plan to attend a training session on
Saturday, February 10 from 9 to 10 a.m., and email Margie Lawrence at
mlawrence at mppc.org, Judy Hood at summerhood at sbcglobal.net, or Stacy
Fredericksen at sfisherfred at yahoo.com to get more info or sign up.

A TOOT OF THE HORN TO OUR JAZZ GROUPS

M-A's Advanced Jazz Ensemble placed second at last week's Redwood Empire
Jazz Festival, competing against 14 other very fine bands in the
Advanced Division, competing in that division for the first time since
2002. Outstanding soloist awards were given to Kyle Crager, Andy Del
Calvo, Robbie Eaton, Brian Reich, and David Rust, and Robbie won a
Cazadero Music Camp scholarship. The Advanced Jazz Combo placed fifth
in competition, and the Intermediate Jazz Combo received three excellent
marks, with outstanding soloist awards going to Liz Bird and Sashi
Ayyangar.

ALGEBRA RECOVERY

If your students received a D or F first quarter, we can help.
Encourage them to visit C-4 during seventh period and after school.
Your students' algebra teachers can provide more details.

OLD CELL PHONES

Got old and unused phones lying around the house? The M-A Key Club
(associated with Kiwanis) is having a cell phone drive with proceeds
benefiting local children in our local area. Please drop your cell
phones in the box in the front office.

WANTED: OLD COMPUTERS...

Working or not, for deserving M-A students. If your family or your
business has computers to donate, please contact Sue Kayton
kayton at alum.mit.edu, 650-853-1711
