PARENTS:
The Class of 2008 is having a garage sale Saturday Sept 30th between
8am-2pm at 884 Cedar Street in San Carlos. Stop by and support them with
a purchase of one of their treasures!
Are you concerned about the current and future impact of the new
charter high schools on Carlmont, Menlo-Atherton, Sequoia, and
Woodside?
Dr. Patrick Gemma, Sequoia District Superintendant, has called an
informational meeting on October 3, at 5:30, in the Multi Purpose Room
at Sequoia High School. The purpose of the meeting is to learn about
SUHSD
obligations to charter high schools, and to have an opportunity to ask
your questions. Please attend.

If you received a re-designation letter from Ms. Alvarez in your 1st or
2nd period last Friday which required a parent signature, please turn it
into her ASAP. There is a manila envelope on the window of T1 in the
small office in the back of the room. Please place your forms in there

Seniors! Do you still need the technology requirement to graduate?
Are you doing a portfolio to complete this requirement? If so, please
note that all portfolios must be signed off by December 8th. Visit
www.seq.org or see your counselor at lunch if you need more

Seniors!!!! Graduation. Yes, you heard right....Graduation!!! You'll
need to order your Cap and Gown on October 3 and 4. That's a Tuesday
and Wednesday NEXT week. Your 4th period teacher will be passing out
the order forms. Order your Cap and Gown. The prices will go up, so

CLUBS AND PROGRAMS
If you want to get to know other Jewish students and do fun Jewish
activities, join the Jewish Club! We will have a club meeting TODAY at

The Carlmont Boy's Basketball Teams are sponsoring a fundraiser by
holding a huge rummage sale, bake sale, and barbecue this Saturday,
Sept. 30th from 9:00-3:00 in the Senior Parking Lot. Come buy a treasure

COLLEGE AND CAREER
Attention Seniors living in Redwood City or Redwood Shores: If you have
participated in community service and are interested in applying for a
$5000 or $10,000 local scholarship, then come to a lunchtime
presentation today (Friday) to learn about the Sequoia Awards. -

Sign-ups for the PSAT held on Saturday, Oct. 21st at Carlmont is under
way. To sign-up, bring $23 cash or check (payable to Carlmont HS) to the
Treasurer's Office during lunch or after 6th period. Sophomores can
begin to register on Monday, Oct. 2nd. - Dominguez
Seniors: Next Friday during lunch, a representative from Cal
(Berkeley) will be in the College Center at lunch to talk about a
$32,000 scholarship they give to a Carlmont student. Come hear the
details about Cal's Incentive Awards Program if you have at least a 3.35
unweighted GPA and plan on applying to Cal. - Dominguez
Applications for all students to tutor in San Carlos, Redwood Shores,
and Belmont schools through the Homework Club and Healthy Cities project
are still available in the College Center. Don't wait until your Senior
year to start community service, drop by and now and explore these

PERFORMING ARTS
Grease is STILL the word! Grease sing-a-long TONIGHT at 7:30pm in the
Carlmont High School Gym. The cost is $10.00 per person (includes free
popcorn). Free for kids 5 and under. Tickets are available at the door!
When a big musical number begins the lyrics will show up and you get to
sing-a-long! All proceeds benefit Carlmont Choirs' Tour to New York. -
