PARENTS:

The October issue of the Bagpiper newsletter is now posted on the Carlmont
website. Go to www.carlmont.seq.org and click on the Bagpiper link. You¹ll
find the monthly calendar, a message from Principal Jenoff, information on
new teachers and academic programs offered, and much more. Hardcopies of the
Bagpiper are in the mail, but for those of you who agreed to receive your
copy online, here¹s your chance to see it first!

Are you concerned about the current and future impact of the new charter
high schools on Carlmont, Menlo-Atherton, Sequoia, and Woodside?

Dr. Patrick Gemma, Sequoia District Superintendant, has called an
informational meeting on October 3, at 5:30, in the Multi Purpose Room at
Sequoia High School.  The purpose of the meeting is to learn about SUHSD
obligations to charter high schools, and to have an opportunity to ask your
questions.  Please attend.

CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

Come to the Inaugural Beach Volleyball club meeting Wed. at lunch in E-16. 

Homecoming, Homecoming, Homecoming! Ticket sales begin TODAY in the ASB room at lunch. Tickets are $7 with PAL and $10 without. The last day for guest passes to be turned in will be Oct. 11th. Come get your tickets! * Kelly

Did you know that Terry Bell, a member of a radical group called "The Believers" has been arrested and charged with committing arson, in the town of Lake Angel? If you want to know the verdict in this trial, come to the first Practice of the season for Carlmont's Mock Trial Team. This evening from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in E-2 with Mr. Gomez. If you join Mock Trial, you may earn 5 units of Independent Study, if you compete in the San Mateo County Mock Trial Competition in February. You will also learn a great deal about the Criminal Justice system and have a lot of fun! See Mr. Gomez in E-2 for more details. - Gomez

The Break dance club will have its first meeting TODAY in B-2 at lunch. 

Want to spend your Spring Break with Ms. Cho in Peru?  Come to an informational meeting about this immersion opportunity on Thursday at lunch in room T-3.  Any level of Spanish is welcome!  We hope to see you there! * Cho

Do you surf, boogie board, or skim board?  Did you miss our first meeting?  There is a Norcal Beach Boarders club meeting this Wednesday at lunch in T-7 for anyone interested in being a part of this new club.  - Fung

What are you doing at the start of summer?  Want to be part of Carlmont's Costa Rica trip?  Have an interest to see and work with hatchlings of leatherbacks?  Want to know more about birds, reptiles, and butterflies of the Costa Rican rainforest?  Come to an informational meeting at lunch TODAY in room C3 and learn about this school year's exciting 11-day Costa Rica adventure.  See Ms. Doss if you have any questions. - Doss

Are you interested in being a mentor? Do you want to make a difference in a Freshmen's life? Come to the Mentors on Campus informational meeting, this Thursday at lunch in A-8. * Kelly

The Middle Eastern Club will be meeting on Wednesday, Oct 4th in B-9. All members and newcomers must attend. 

The computer animation club will be meeting in room D-6 at lunch on Thursday. Please come if you are interested. * Diminyatz

The Bowling Club will meet on Wednesday at lunch in room D 10.  Our first bowling event to kick-off the season will take place after school on Wednesday.  Please come to the meeting for details and to turn in permission slips. -  Mudd

CLASS INFO

Seniors!  Do you need to complete Scholar's School in order to graduate?  If so, please see your counselor TODAY at lunchtime to pick up an application. All graduation requirements must be complete in order to walk across the stage in June.  - DePaoli

Freshman Class!!!  If you're a Freshman, you need to listen to this.  Your first class meeting will be TODAY.  It's in the ASB room at lunch.  We need to put together a Powder Puff team.  We need a decorating committee for our homecoming "float."  And, we need to put in nominations for Homecoming Lord and Lady.  So, if you're a Freshman and you're interested in this kind of school spirit, come to the first Freshman class meeting TODAY in the ASB room at lunch. - Kelly

Seniors! Class meeting this Wed in room C-12 at lunch. We'll be talking more about Homecoming Nominations and decorations. * Kelly

There is a Junior Powderpuff meeting TODAY, Tuesday Oct 3rd in Mr. Shelley's classroom, B-9. Be there at lunch. It is a mandatory meeting and anyone who wants to join must attend. 

SPORTS

There will be a mandatory varsity boys soccer meeting on Tuesday October 3rd in t-4 during lunch.  We will be discussing important information for the upcoming Soccer season. * Selli

Interested in playing softball this year?  If you answered yes to this question then your should come to an important meeting in E-15 at lunch on Tuesday.  Don't be late.  Liggett

COLLEGE AND CAREER

Save the Date: On Wednesday, December 11th at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater, the College Center will hold an evening workshop on UC and CSU campuses.  A demonstration on how to apply on-line will also be provided. All grade levels and parents are invited to attend. * Dominguez

Friday, October 6th, is the last day to register for the October 28th ACT exam date - a late fee will apply. Also, next Wednesday, Oct 11th, is the last day to register for the Nov 4th SAT exam date - a late fee will apply. - Dominguez

Juniors and Sophomores -- don't forget, this is your last week to get signed up for the PSAT held at Carlmont on Saturday, Oct. 21st.  Bring $23 cash or check (payable to Carlmont HS) into the Treasurer's Office during lunch or after 6th period. - Dominguez

Seniors applying to a CSU campus, are invited to come to a workshop in the College Center tomorrow (Wed) during 7th period on how to apply on-line. - Dominguez
