Dear Parents and Community Members:

High school is often cited by individuals as the experience that "gave me my start in life." The Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD), through its five high schools, provides all students with powerful opportunities to succeed in whatever they choose to do after graduation.

The benefits of attending school in the Sequoia Union High School District are many. Our schools are staffed at an approximate 27 to 1 student/teacher ratio. We have many tutoring, counseling, and other support services to address the individual needs of our students. Our teachers are highly educated and committed to the total development of each student. Beyond rigorous academic coursework, our students experience character education designed to teach the importance of respect, honesty, and courage.

When the schools are periodically reviewed for accreditation, our students report that they feel safe and nurtured. The vast majority of our student population arrives early or stays beyond the traditional school day to participate in the many and varied extracurricular opportunities offered. These include athletics, fine and performing arts, community service activities, clubs, and other wholesome social events.

The SUHSD knows that involved parents and families, working with highly competent school staff, will ensure that our students are well prepared for the challenges that are ahead of them after graduation. Our parents are highly involved, and this is welcomed.

The $200 million dollars in construction projects spread throughout all sites are well underway. When finished our school facilities will be second-to-none and will speak volumes about how this community values its youth.

I sincerely believe that parents can pay expensive private tuition and not receive a better educational opportunity for their students. I encourage all parents to contact their school of choice within the SUHSD and make an appointment to learn more about the wonderful experiences that await.
