OPTION 1: TEST - Performance-based exam (in designated computer lab)
- 75% passing score based on rubric
- Students will demonstrate competency with:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Web-based e-mail
Administration of Test:
- Students wishing to challenge the requirement must contact their Guidance Advisor
- Tests will be administered once a semester at each school site. This in is compliance with Board Policy 6146.11 & AR 6146.11 (Challenge)
- STUDENTS MAY ONLY ATTEMPT THE EXAM ONCE
Reporting Results:
- Results will be reported to the Guidance Office via a check-off form
- Guidance advisors will enter the results into the student information system, so transcripts will show the computer competency graduation requirement has been satisfied
OPTION 2: PORTFOLIO
Students can satisfy the technology graduation requirement by submitting a portfolio of their work, related to technology. - Portfolios must be authenticated by a teacher, reflecting work done by the student FOR A CLASS THEY ARE ENROLLED IN.
- Portfolio work is NOT limited to one course. It can be work done in various courses (i.e.: project(s) done in Social Studies and a project(s) completed in an English course, etc.)
- Appropriate work completed if student attended COMPASS program.
- Portfolios MUST CONTAIN A MINIMUM OF 4 DOCUMENTS / ARTIFACTS FROM 3 OR MORE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
- STUDENTS MAY ONLY ATTEMPT A PORTFOLIO ONCE
Documents / Artifacts deemed acceptable:
- PowerPoint presentations
- Word processing documents (using features beyond basic word processing)
- Excel - Spreadsheets, graphs & charts
- Web-based projects or Webquests
- Poster boards displaying results of research done via the web or computer
- Any computer related project accepted at the discretion of the evaluating teacher
A completed portfolio must be signed off by:
- Technology Resource Teacher or Site Technology Coordinator
