Adult School Annex

The Sequoia Union High School District is proposing to construct a new Adult School Annex at 736 and 763A Green Street, East Palo Alto. This project will consist of six modular classrooms, restroom building, administration building, utility and sitework, new landscape and hardscape, fencing, lighting and a 46 car parking lot. The Adult School would serve a maximum of 270 students throughout the day. As another alternative, it is possible that the site will be used during the day by a local charter school. It is expected that the Charter School will be used by a total of 100 students during the first year, and a total of 200 students during the second year. The Charter School is not expected to extend beyond two academic years at this site. The site would not be used by both the Charter School and the Adult School at the same time.

To create a ten year technology fund for upgrading classroom computers; to improve energy efficiency; to build classrooms for career, technical and vocational education courses; and to improve, expand, modernize and construct classrooms and facilities at Carlmont, Menlo-Atherton, Sequoia and Woodside High Schools and other district sites; shall the Sequoia Union High School District issue $165,000,000 in bonds at interest rates within the legal limit with all expenditures monitored by an Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee.

Measure H is a $70 million bond passed under Proposition 98 by the voters in the Sequoia Union High School District in November, 2004. The legal requirements of Measure H is to establish an Oversight Committee composed of community members representing local businesses, senior citizens’ organization, a bona fide tax payers’ organization, as well as involved parent of a child enrolled in a District school. The eight member committee is charged with the responsibility of assuring voters that the bond proceeds are spent effectively and in compliance with the projects listed in the Measure “H” ballot language.

The seven member Committee is charged with the responsibility of assuring voters that bond proceeds are expended effectively and in compliance with the projects listed in the Measure G ballot language.
