The Mission of the District Parent Coordinators office is to achieve parent and student success by creating a welcoming environment and by providing a resource that promotes informed partnerships and collaboration.
Our philosophy is that all students are capable of succeeding and realizing their potential in an encouraging and nurturing, yet challenging learning environment. The entire school community is committed to raising standards, supporting co- and extra-curricular activities, applying learning to real-life experiences, and preparing all students to function productively in the post-secondary world and beyond.
Welcome to our schools! We are so pleased that you are joining our family of learners. I will assist you in building a partnership in support of your child. Here at SUHSD, there are many people on our team - administrators, teachers, and support staff - who are all committed to ensure your child's academic success. We look forward to working together with you to provide wonderful years of learning and academic growth for your child.
We strive to include more of our parents in this partnership. Our schools, like our society, have become diverse and multi-cultural. Increasing parent involvement is imperative and can be accomplished by making it easier for parents whose lack of involvement is due, not to a lack of interest, but to time restrictions, language barriers and other circumstances. Promoting the development of positive, pro-active relationships between teachers and parents not only aids in cultivating a student's individual strengths, it helps to insure that everyone remains focused on the student.
One of the keys to your child's success will be your ongoing involvement in our school community. Throughout the school year, you will have opportunities to meet your child's teacher; participate in the SSC, PTSA, ELAC, DELAC and other parent groups; attend informative workshops in English and Spanish; and attend many events which we host to celebrate our students' success.
As the district parent coordinator, I am available to provide information, answer questions, help you access resources for you and your child, refer you to the appropriate site parent coordinator, and assist you on any issue that you or your child may encounter in school. In order to keep the lines of communication open, we highly suggest you to attend our parent workshops offered throughout the school year. Please feel free to come to my office located at 480 James Ave., Redwood City, or call me at 650.369.1411, Ext. 22293, or 650.207.5049. You may also e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
