Founded in 1895, the Sequoia Union High School District is an established leader in the San Francisco Mid-Peninsula region, including the diverse communities of Atherton, Belmont, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Redwood City, Redwood Shores, San Carlos and Woodside.
The district serves 8,200 9-12 students through four distinguished, award-winning comprehensive high schools, a model continuation high school, a middle college in collaboration with Cañada College, and other specialized programs and services as well as an additional 8,000 students who enroll annually in classes through the district's adult school.
Compensation and benefits
The Sequoia district offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package, including fully-paid medical, dental and vision coverage for employees and their families. The district currently offers HMO and PPO options as well as a cash-back option for those opting out of district-paid benefits.

All employees must have a Department of Justice check through LiveScan before they can begin work. We do this to ensure the safety of our students and all employees.
All volunteers working for the Sequoia Union High School district must be fingerprinted through LiveScan if they are going to be unsupervised with the students. Volunteers that are supervised by a staff member undergo a background check through the Sheriff's office.
Moving on the Salary Schedule
A classified/probationary employee will move to the next step of the salary schedule after completion and successfully passing a six month probationary period. From this time/month on, the employee will advance to the next step every year until the top step (step 5) has been reached provided that he/she has a satisfactory evaluation.
To apply to become a substitute teacher in our district, please complete the substitute teacher application at EdJoin.org. Please submit all required attachments with your application. Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent to the Human Resources Department for review. Not all applicants will be contacted.

NOTE: 30 Day Sub Permit Application is completed at the District Office once Certificate of Clearance has been granted from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Current application fee is $102.50 and must be renewed annually. Please visit ctc.ca.gov to obtain a Certificate of Clearance, currently $52.50, plus additional Live Scan fee if applicable. Current Substitute Teachers can sign in to our online sub system, AESOP. Each substitute will get their own login ID and pin to view assignments at http://www.aesoponline.com.
