Open Enrollment Transfers are available to incoming 9th grade students who wish to attend a school other than their assigned home school. After enrollment targets are established at each school, and a determination is made that there are available seats, a random, unbiased drawing will be held to assign students to those open seats. SUHSD's Administrative Regulation 5116.1 includes further information.

You do not need to complete an Open Enrollment Transfer Application if you want your child to attend their assigned home school. If you would like to request for your incoming 9th grader to attend a different school, please complete an online Open Enrollment Transfer Application below, prior to the deadline.

Open Enrollment Transfer Timeline:

  • Last week of September, 2018 - an Open Enrollment letter goes out to all current 8th grade students
  • November 1, 2018: Address Verification (AV) window opens; all Open Enrollment Transfer requests must be accompanied by a completed AV by the time Open Enrollment window closes.
  • November 15, 2018: Open Enrollment Transfer window opens at 12:00pm
  • February 1, 2019: Open Enrollment Transfer window Closes at 4:00pm
    •  No late applications are accepted
  • February 7, 2019: Public drawing will be held (if necessary) for those schools which have more requests than available seats. Students will not know if their application request has been approved at this drawing. The drawing will be held at the Sequoia Union High School District Office (Board room) at 480 James Avenue in Redwood City at 3:00 p.m. Your attendance is not required.
  • First week of March, 2019: Approved transfer letter sent to those families who have a transfer approved. A wait list will be established for those who have not had their application approved.
  • April 30, 2019: The waitlist expires. If you do not receive a letter regarding the waitlist by this date, you were not approved for a transfer. SUHSD will not send out letters for non-approval for students on the waitlist.
