Counseling, psychological, and social needs in the SUHSD are supported by a wide variety of services and programs. Each school site provides a unique network of support for all students. Issues addressed include: stress, depression, suicide prevention, alcohol and other drugs, and bullying, among many others. These issues are of interest at all levels: school, district, county, and state.

Of the 8 Core Components, mental health is one of the top priorities for the SUHSD. A Mental Health Advisory Committee was formed in 2011, with the goal of coordinating and collaborating across the district.
