Our new location is: 1090 Mills Way, in Redwood City. For those that unfamiliar with the area, Mills Way is a culdesac approximately two blocks off of Broadway and Woodside Rd. You will pass the Main Post Office and Summit Preparatory High School.

Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Except for Holidays)

For the safety of our students as well as our staff members, the district and all school sites are equipped with security cameras and fire alarm equipment that is monitored 24/7.

School Developer Fees

Effective January 1, 1987, Assembly Bill 2926, Section 53080 to the California Government Code authorizes school districts to levy "School Developer Fees" on new, remodels or additions to residential, commercial and industrial development projects.

The Maintenance and Operations department of the Sequoia Union High School District, collects school developer fees for both the Belmont/Redwood Shores, Las Lomitas, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Ravenswood, Redwood City, San Carlos and Woodside Elementary School Districts and the Sequoia Union High School District. Legislation also provides that "No building permits may be issued until the district's certify that any fees due have been paid."

Fees are calculated based on the total square footage of the project. As of June 19, 2016 the square footage rate for residential projects is $3.48 a square foot and $0.56 a square foot for commercial/industrial projects. (See rate schedule for details)

Every two years, the Sequoia Union High School District will retain legal services in order to conduct a developer fee justification survey for the district. This will determine if there is a need for the district to increase the rate and if so, by what amount.

Resolution No. 1569 was APPROVED, PASSED and ADOPTED by the Governing Board of the Sequoia Union High School District on April 20, 2016.

Instructions and Procedures

Remember - The law states that no building department may issue a building permit unless the district certifies that all fees have been paid.

For your convenience, you may request a copy of our "Instructions and Procedures" packet from the building department when applying for your building permit.

The "Instructions and Procedures" packet contains detailed information on how to proceed with this process and answer questions or concerns you may have.
